ROBERT SEDGLEY is a British artist and teacher. He was born in Birmingham in the industrial heartland of England and attended a junior art school from the age of twelve. On leaving school he trained and worked for six years as a silk screen printer and poster writer, then decided to become a teacher. Five years of study led to his graduation in Fine Art from Exeter College of Art and Design and the Art Teacher’s Diploma from the City of Leicester Polytechnic. He taught in a number of Comprehensive schools in Hertfordshire and was Head of the Art Department for eight years. A school closure in 1990 prompted a move to Spain and the possibility of practising full time as an artist. He has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions and has work in private collections in the UK and other European countries, America and Sri Lanka. He has made frequent visits to Sri Lanka and has travelled extensively, painting street scenes, religious sites and recording his experiences. He has held seven exhibitions in Colombo and Galle.
He is a contributor to Drawn to the Galle Fort by Juliet Coombe, published by Serendipity Publishing.
